BLU-RAY TUESDAY: 'Warm Bodies' Professes Zombie Love, 'Identity Thief' Continues to Steal on Blu-Ray

The first Tuesday of June is fully loaded with several new choices to check out this week. Four theatrical releases include Warm Bodies, A Good Day to Die Hard, Identity Thief and Escape From Planet Earth, while the latest seasons of Breaking Bad and Falling Skies also street for television audiences.

First up is Warm Bodies, a zombie apocalypse comedy that twists the Shakespeare's classic love story, Romeo & Juliet. "R" (a zombie iteration of Romeo) played by Nicholas Hoult falls in love with human Julie (Teresa Palmer). Together, the two are forced to hide their forbidden love from the humans and zombies, who are at war with one another.


Warm Bodies is released in a Blu-Ray, Digital Copy, UltraViolet combo pack from Summit Entertainment.
     
Also coming out on June 4th is the fifth film in the "Die Hard" franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard. Bruce Willis reprises his role as John McClane to help his son (Jai Courtney), caught in the middle of a Russian terrorist plot. A Good Day to Die Hard failed to capture any substantial blockbuster numbers at the box office this past February, but hopes to gain a much larger audience on Blu-Ray. 

A Good Day to Die Hard is packaged in a Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Copy, UltraViolet combo pack and features two cuts of the film from 20th Century Fox.

Identity Thief, starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, also arrives on Blu-Ray in an Unrated Edition combo pack from Universal. The Seth Gordon comedy is released in a Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Copy, UltraViolet combo pack, offering audiences plenty from 2013's first $100 million grosser about stolen identities.

For family audiences, Escape From Planet Earth is released in a Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Copy, UltraViolet combo pack from Starz/ Anchor Bay. In Escape From Planet Earth, alien Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) from the planet Baab is sent to Earth after receiving an SOS.

Also coming out are Breaking Bad: The Complete Fifth Season and Falling Skies: The Complete Second Season. Breaking Bad and Falling Skies are both released in 2-Disc combo packs. Breaking Bad is distributed by Sony and Falling Skies from Warner Bros.

  2. I only had a chance to see "Warm Bodies," out of the four theatrical releases. For me, it wasn't bad, but I know it resonated much better with others.
